|Geeta Malik – Writer, Director, Producer Geeta received her Masters of Fine Arts from UCLA’s prestigious graduate film program in producing/directing. Geeta has a strong track record of making films that address issues in the South Asian community, but with universal themes. She has created several acclaimed narrative short films, including her viral narrative short, Aunty Gs, which earned a College Television Award (a “student Emmy”) in comedy production from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Her narrative thesis film, Beast, was funded in part by the Edie and Lew Wasserman Film Production Award. Geeta is a recipient of the Coppel Screenwriting Award and the Jack Nicholson Distinguished Director Award. Her work has been shown and broadcast worldwide.
|Quyen Tran – Director of Photography Quyen Tran received fine art and photography training at the University of Virginia and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. before receiving an MFA in Cinematography from UCLA’s Graduate Film School. At UCLA, Quyen won Best Cinematography three years in a row, photographing numerous short films which have screened at festivals including Sundance, Telluride, Los Angeles Film Festival, Slamdance and Tribeca among others. Quyen recently completed two narrative feature films this year, and is currently working with documentary filmmaker Grace Lee on her next project. She will be shooting a feature in Montana next year after completing principal photography on Troublemaker. She is extremely excited, as this will be her fourth collaboration with Geeta as cinematographer.|
|Reena Dutt – Associate Producer Reena began producing in 2000 at the New York International Fringe Festival with WHITE COTTON. She joined Disha Theatre Company in ’01 where she was part of the producing team for PRINCE OF DELHI PALACE, written by Ravi Kapoor, at The Lark Theatre (NYC). With Red Dirt Productions, Reena produced a short film called UNFINISHED, currently on the international film festival circuit. In ’09 Reena co-produced ANATOMY OF A SLAP, with Off-Chance Productions, a film and theatre productions company she co-founded in 2007 with her fellow producers. Her most recent adventure is as co-producer for The Real Girl’s Guide to Everything Else, another Off-Chance production, that has been picked up by Strike.TV. She currently is on the board of Theatre of NOTE.|
|Heather de Michele – Assistant Director Heather is thrilled to be working as 1st AD on Troublemaker! She is most often seen directing or editing, but loves to wear as many hats on set as possible. Her directing credits include, the web-series The Real Girl’s Guide to Everything Else (now showing on Strike TV), and many short films including Cry For Me Now (Filmaka entry level winner), The Other Side of Employment, If We Shadows (Entry level winner) and Sondra Stingray: Sapphic Gumshoe (Best Director and Best Short Long Beach Q Film Festival). Heather has nearly 15 years experiencing directing for the stage and served as Artistic Director of American Girl, NYC where she coached 300 young performers for the Off-Broadway stage from 2003-2008.|
|Karuna Karmarkar – Production Designer Karuna Karmarkar is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Theater Film & Television. She has since designed a number of short films, commercials and music videos in the Los Angeles area. The Art of Being Straight (Regent Releasing-2009) was her debut feature film as a production designer.Troublemaker is her second feature and first collaboration with Geeta Malik.
